  • Can't compile Real-Time Clock and Calendar example

Hello, I am trying to get the Real-time Clock PICadillo example to compile (located here: http://forum.4dsystems.com.au/forum/...k-and-calendar).

However, its failing to compile in UECIDE. It simply throws the following error:

    Compiling...
    • Preprocessing...
    • Compiling sketch...

    Failed compiling sketch

I am using UECIDE Version 0.8.9-pre5, I think I have all the required libraries installed, but I am not sure. Sorry for the noob questions, but the error message thrown is hard to diagnose... any ideas?

    Thanks in advance
    Andy

    Hello Andy,

Thank you for your message. There have been changes with the UECIDE, as described here:

    http://forum.4dsystems.com.au/forum/...0581#post50581

Please make sure to implement the instructions posted in that thread.

    Hope this helps.

I am already using the latest build of UECIDE which was a clean installation (no previous versions installed), and I don't have any old libraries installed. Based on the brevity of the error message thrown, I am at a loss for determining what the problem might be...

        Hi Andy,

I have just tried this and I got the same error. The reason is that the library files included in that project are actually outdated. They were a modification of the original gciWidget library, which was created when UECIDE was using the TFT library. The original gciWidget library did not support the rendering of LED digits objects, so I had to extend it. As you have seen in the thread that I pointed you to, UECIDE is now using the DisplayCore library. I checked the new gciWidget library files, and there are lots of changes, as compared to the gciWidget library files attached to the project you are trying. The files for the project will be scheduled for updating. At the moment, I suggest that you try the more basic example that comes with the UECIDE by default. Please see the attached photo for your reference. Don't forget to copy the necessary graphics files to your uSD card.

The following app notes might also help you (these will be scheduled for updating as well):

I wasn't able to download your *.png files (the screen just goes blank, even though I am logged in). I had previously gotten the "Hello World" sketch to compile/run. The other example you listed above for Rendering a Workshop 4 widget also has the same problem that I described originally... eg failure to compile. I presume for the same or similar reasons with the widget library.

yes, I can see them now... and I was able to get the gciWidget example sketch to compile and run successfully.
