  • Transparency in image files

Can the images files "compiled" by Graphics Composer include transparency? Both PNG and BMP support transparency. I guess I could just try it, but it would be nice to know if it should work or not.

I would like an irregular shaped "icon" to be drawn over the existing screen contents.

    Cheers,

    SGC does not support transparency.

BMPs (generally) support transparency by making the color in the bottom left corner transparent.

The output of GC is simply an array of pixels so there can be no support for transparency other than as a nominated color, this is how GFX supports transparency.

So if you input a 'standard' transparent BMP into GC and nominated the bottom left pixel's color as the transparent color, GFX would display it transparently.

On SGC you should build a composite picture that has the background 'builtin' and display that.
