  • µUSB-PA5 not detected

I have the a uLCD-24-PTU with a µUSB-PA5 microUSB Programming Adaptor connected to Windows Vista but can't get a COM port installed.

ie. Looking at the Device Manager there is no Ports (COM & LPT).

The uLCD-24-PTU does have the splash screen appearing.

    I have read the posts:
    http://4d.websitetoolbox.com/post/uUSBMB5-not-detected-4986500
    http://4d.websitetoolbox.com/post/Installing-amp956USBMB5-driver-for-windows-3061766

And still can't find an answer.

I have downloaded CDM 2.08.28 WHQL Certified.zip from http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm. The installation manual states "Connect the device to a spare USB port on your PC."

When I do this the device is not detected and therefore I can't install the driver. Is there something else I need to install to get the uLCD-24-PTU detected?

Does your computer make the 'device arrival' sound when the PA5 is plugged in?

What happens if you try it on another computer?

No it doesn't make the device arrival sound. I have also tried plugging it into a Windows XP (SP3) machine, which also doesnt detect the device.

I would think that the cable is working as I do get the splash screen. I also notice that the Tx led lights up (for less than 1 second) each time I plug the cable into the PC.

Hmm, I'd try another cable first.

The display only needs gnd, + 5v. The PA5 will need need the other two wires to work.

If it still fails contact support at 4dsystems dot com dot au quoting this thread
