Not by 4D, I think there may be something somewhere in this forum written by a user.

Are there any demo programs written in Python?

Thanks for the reply. I'm curious if there are some basic demos that use the basic commands that don't need the IDE (that I'll use later )

I have the 24PTU starter kit. I've noticed that the jumper wires are 5V/RX/TX... while on the LCD there is 5V/TX/RX. So can this cable be connected directly to the display?
Yes, you can connect the cable that comes with the kit directly to the display. The RX of the display module goes to the TX of the programming cable (or the uUSB-PA5 adaptor). The TX goes to RX, this is why they are reversed.

Also I've noticed some demos, but which do not require using the IDE and MS Windows to run? I tried to run the calculator demo on Raspberry and the display just display the intro screen.
Were you able to download the ViSi-Genie Calculator demo application to your 24PTU display? If not, here is a link to the ViSi-Genie Calculator demo application:

    https://github.com/4dsystems/ViSi-Genie-RaspPi-Demo-Calculator

The file calculator.zip contains the files for 4D Systems Workshop 4 ViSi-Genie Environment. Open the files in Workshop 4 so you can download the Calculator demo application to your 24PTU display.

If you haven't installed Workshop 4 in your PC yet, you can download it here:

    http://www.4dsystems.com.au/product/10/120/Development/4D_Workshop_4_IDE/

The page also contains an installation guide.

If you are not yet familiar with how to download a ViSi Genie program to your display in Workshop 4, you may want to see this application note first.

    http://www.4dsystems.com.au/downloads/Application-Notes/4D-AN-P4001-Getting-Started-First-Project-with-ViSi-Genie-REV1.zip

This application note shows you how to:
Load a sample program - the Calculator Demo for instance (page 4)
Build and Upload the program to your 24PTU display (page 16)

    Hope this helps.
