  • Back Driving Voltages

I am getting ready to mount my 32PTU to the cabinet with it's own power supply. But during debug and testing I will also have the USB cable connected to download new code, etc. The question I have is, is supplying 5 Volts though the ribbon connector and 5 volts though the USB safe? What do I need to do to protect the HW from any contention here.

To be safe just ensure that the 5v is only coming from one source as those 2 points are 'common'

      OK,
I need to add some type of switch or something or cut the 5 volt trace from the USB dongle. I have to many 5v devices on the board and I can not power them off of the USB 5v.

      Thanks for the quick response.
