  • How to have all Visi Genie program in uSDcard and boot and start it

I create a Visi Genie program sample.
Toto have all Visi Genie program in uSDcard and boot and start it, i do the following steps:
    1. I select "Boot uSD" button on Tools menu 2. In Project menu, i select uSD button.
    3. In Home menu, i Build the program and workshop puts all files in uSDcard. Content of uSDcard is:
    Noname~1.d01
    Noname~1.dat
    Noname~1.g01
    Noname~1.gci
    Noname~1.txf
RunFlash.4xe 4. I unplug uSDcard from PC and put it to the screen slot.
    5. I see that the screen loop and displays always "Drive not mounted..."
    Why does'nt it work?
    Have you a procedure document?

    Thanks in advance.

Copied this from another tread hope this helps you!

To boot off uSD you will need a stub program in Flash, something like

    C:\Users\Public\Documents\4D Labs\4DUpdates\Utils\FLASHBOOT.INC

Remember, if you go down that route your program will not be able to become too big to run from RAM.

Downloading files to the card is just a matter of writing to a file from serial. There's a sample in the FAT_Tests routine in the Serial Bigdemo program

      Thanks,
When i select "Boot uSD" button on Tools menu, i see that workshop programs in Flash the stub program "C:\Users\Public\Documents\4D Labs\4DUpdates\Utils\FLASHBOOT.INC". Then it is not enought? Why screen don't mount the uSD?

What make/model of uSD card are you using? (If it's Transcend or a Kingston use something else)

Maybe just try another make/model of uSD regardless.

What is the output of the 'uSD tester' tool?

Can you run Chkdsk against the uSD from the DOS prompt and share its output?

uSD card is a Transcend model.
the output of 'uSD tester' tool : see attached file.
the Chkdsk against th uSD say: No problem detected.

I did say, if it's a transcend use something else. Transcend cards often don't work properly

I bought your SD (uSD-4GB-Industrial ) and it run very well.
But now my problem is that the SD is very expensive when I add to it 36$ postage and 26$ tax and customs clearance.
My project starts with 70 screens ( uLCD - 70DT ) and as many SD.
                - My suppliers are Radiospare , Farnell and Mouser : do you know any of its fully compatible SD.
                - What are the characteristics necessary for a fully compatible SD?

Gee, that card has read disturb protection, I am not sure if you really need that level of 'reliability'.

Really, the only brands that we are aware of that need avoiding are Transcend and Kingston.

Surely you can get Sandisk locally?
