  • Is it possible to remove the touch screen attached to the LCD?

A while ago I broke the touch screen cable on my uLCD-43PT and was unable to repair it. I bought a new resistive touch panel and connected it to the board, calibrated it and got it working perfectly fine. I can stick the new touch panel directly on top of the old one but there would be a large air gap between the LCD and the touch panel. I want to know if its possible to remove the current touch panel from the rest of the LCD so I can stick the new one directly to the LCD. I'm assuming the current touch panel will just have an adhesive rim that I can either pry or heat to remove but I don't want to attempt it without being sure.

I got bored and just did it and it worked. I just used a knife to cut between the glass and the LCD and replaced it with the new panel. There are some minor scratches to the LCD and the replacement touch panel isn't as clear as the original was but it works well enough and definitely a success,
