  • Logging to the sd card?

Was wandering if there was any way to log to the sd card and then read the files without taking the card out of the display? Working on a dash project to go with an engine control unit that is arduino based.

    Hello BHayes,

    Welcome to the forum!

If that's the case, I would suggest that you create your own protocol between the host and display. The host (microcontroller) will poll a request (this is a good idea if you are not trying to read the entire contents of the log file on the SD card while the communication is busy) to the display (gen4 display). After that, the display will call a special function that will read the content of the log file on the SD card then send it via serial communication (bigger files might take longer to be transmitted) to the host until all the contents are read.

This will eliminate the need of taking the card out on the display.

This could also be done on ViSi-Genie Environment using magic codes.
Although this requires PRO license, this takes advantage of ViSi-Genie comms protocol.
