  • Can I make my own 5 way or USB xfer cable in a pinch?

I'm desperately trying to load a program to my displays, but seem to have gotten a bum UPA. Is there ANY other way to communicate or load/compile apps to load on to a display OTHER than one of the custom programming adapters or cables?

I've been looking at the schematic for the 4D programming cable and wondered if I could sacrifice one of my old USB cables to the cause, but it looks like there might be a need for the CP2102 chip? Is there some other, simpler way?

Really appreciate any help or tips anyone could share...

    Thanks!

    Hi,

You can check these forum post for some customers who tried to use generic USB serial adaptor:
    https://forum.4dsystems.com.au/node/58391
As discussed in those thread, make sure that your serial adaptor has an Active Low reset pin out available.
It may or may not work well, but could be worth a shot.

    Best Regards,
