  • DAT and CGI files in flash

    I'm using a GEN4-IOD-24T and I would like to use the flash memory to store and use the CGI and DAT files with user images, instead of using the microSD. Is it possible? Thanks!

    Hi,

    Welcome to the forum.

    Theoretically this is possible. It was supported by GFX4d using SPIFFS which was the previous flash file system used in the ESP8266 core but that has now been abandoned and changed to LittleFS. I will look into what changes are needed to make it compatible with LittleFS and update you as soon as possible.

    Best regards

    Paul

        Hi Jose,

        I've managed to update the GFX4d library for LittleFS

        I tested this on a 2mb version of the gen4-IoD and included an example for this Flash size.

        You may need to take a look at this web page about LittleFS, in particular 'Uploading Files to the File System'

        https://arduino-esp8266.readthedocs....ilesystem.html

        This shows you how to install and use the Tool for uploading files to the Flash which needs to be used in the Arduino IDE

        In the GFX4d library GFX4d.h, on line 180 you will find,

        #define USE_FS

        To revert back to uSD comment this out and save the file eg

        //#define USE_FS

        I hope everything is self explanatory but if you run into any issues please let me know

        Best regards

        Paul
