    The new uOLED-160-GMD1 is the same physical size as the current uOLED-160 range except for 6mm x 6mm side tags on each corner of the PCB with 3mm mounting holes. These tags can be cut off. All of the new range of uOLED modules will be powered by a tiny GOLDELOX-MD1 module. This is a very small 28 pin module (2 x 14 pins @ 1.27mm pitch) with all the necessary hardware built in to drive any small to medium size OLED/LCD. It also has an integrated microSD card adaptor without any serial flash memory on board. The reason behind this was to offer the user much more flexibility in the size of memory by purchasing a seperate uSD card of any capacity from 64Mb to 1Gig.

    The GOLDELOX-MD1 module makes it incredibly easy to design a custom OLED/LCD display system as can be seen from the attached schematic. Although the module has the uSD card adaptor integrated, the CS, SDI, SDO, SCK signals are available on the 28 pins for an external serial flash memory connection. The module will auto plug and play with the flash and determine the capacity. The user has to do nothing.

    We will also be offering the GOLDELOX-MD1 as OEM modules seperately for those who want to get into producing their own custom display system. All you need is the GOLDELOX-MD1 module, specific OLED/LCD connector and a couple of resistors and caps and you have your very own customised intelligent display system. Way too easy. If you don't wish to use the built in uSD card for storage then just add your own serial flash chip of any size, i.e. 1Mb on your custom application PCB. This will also work out to be more cost effective.

    Finally, the GOLDELOX-MD1 is designed to be a universal module that is capable of driving any OLED or LCD display panel. We'll have a series of PmmC (Personality module micro Code) files that is specific to the display panel the module is driving so the user can download that specific PmmC into the GOLDELOX. This means with the same hardware you can drive the OLED-96, OLED-128, OLED-160, LCD-128 etc by downloading the specific PmmC for that display.
