  • micro-VGA with Vt220 and rs232 possible?

Has anyone used this device as a vt220 terminal emulator to display rs-232 serial (ansi/vt) commands on a VGA monitor?

    Thanks

I guess you mean using the processor in 4DGL mode. An interesting concept, and should be do-able. Sort of thing I used to write many years ago.

But no good asking me now, I haven't been involved in an app for around 10 years. Got too old.

    Good luck with it.

Indeed, I got the uVGA for trying to connect my Openmoko smartphone to an external USB console (uVGA + VGA monitor).

But I wonder if the uVGA is really aimed at such use.

Using the serial command set, VGA mode, font1 and the original firmware, my tests gave:

      - 50 lines, 75 columns,
      - ascii font set with a very small interline (reading a full page is painful).
      - several seconds for displaying a screen,

Hopefully, I missed something, perhaps SVGA will come or the font can be fully customized.
