  • PmmC (Personality Module Micro Code) System Files

One of the important features of the 4D range of intelligent modules is the ability to upload its onboard GOLDELOX or PICASO processors with a micro-Code firmware which allows the module to take on a new personality. This is referred to as Personality Module Micro Code (PmmC). The benefits of this are as follows:

    · Allows the module to be easily upgraded by the user at any time with module specific PmmC file.

    · As further enhancements are made in the future, allows the user to benefit from those latest features.

    · The modules can now be updated very quickly and effectively with the latest bug fixes.

    · Allows the user to upload a new Operating System (when available) to change the device from say a serial command driven platform into a high level language platform such as 4DGL. A built-in higher level language such as 4DGL allows user programs to be run directly within the GOLDELOX and the PICASO processors where the graphics operations can be performed much faster than sending the commands serially.

    Attila,

I need a single PB switch user feedback to my PC via the USB.
Can I use PmmC and hook a pushbutton to the run input? This will trigger sending a serial code back to the PC.

As I understand it run is only checked after reset.

        Attila,

I was thinking the 160x120 OLED till a few minutes ago

Just noticed you put up some 320x240 LCD data, would be nice if both units had the capability of adding a pushbutton.

When will Don have the 320x240?

        Regards Gavin

          Attila,

          Just read new uLCD320 manual.
Answered my own question, I/O plus trackball inputs.

Only the one input on the Goldelox -Run?

Don should have stock of the 320-PMD2's now but I think they're busy trying to get a product page up. Give him a tingle.

We'll implement the button read for the uOLED-XXX-GMD1 range using the RUN pin. The uLCD-320-PMD2 has none of the I/O implemented at this moment, we're working on it now, few days max and we'll release a PmmC. Make sure you have a uUSB-MB5 handy, makes life so easy for PmmC downloads.

              Thanks Attila,

I will order more stuff from Don and it looks like it's the trackball from Sparkfun?

Any idea when 4DGL will be released?

              Regards Gavin

4DGL has evolved several times and it's pretty much complete for the GOLDELOX and the PICASO but the dev tools like the editor/compiler/simulator are taking longer than expected. Another few weeks hopefully if I can prevent the guys at the sweat shop from getting sick, going on honeymoons, having babies, taking holidays, etc. (just kidding guys....)

The modules are already really impressive, good work
